A Shower Dr Shower Base Rebuild

In cases where the shower base is damaged beyond repair but the shower recess walls and tiles are still in good condition, a base rebuild may be the solution and provide a long term repair. A full base rebuild involves:

Removing the shower screen
Removing all wall grouts and sealants from shower recess
Removing the bottom row of wall tiles and the complete base of the shower
Inspecting the structure and make any necessary minor repairs
Re-sheeting as necessary, installing water stops and a new puddle flange, then fully waterproofing the area with Mapei products
Re-tiling the base and first row of wall tiles
Carrying out a full Shower Dr Shower service to the shower walls to ensure that they remain problem free
Re-installing taps, a shower rose and the shower screen
The bathroom will be left clean and ready for use

Shower Dr Shower Rebuilds

There are occasions when the whole shower recess including the wall tiles are beyond repair. In these cases your Shower Dr tradesman may recommend a full shower rebuild. This service includes:

Removing the shower floor and wall tiles, bedding and associated sheeting, from the entire shower recess
Inspecting the frame structure and make any necessary minor repairs
Cutting a new straight edge shower base out from existing floor
Re-sheeting as necessary, installing water stops and a new puddle flange, then fully waterproofing the area with Mapei products
This creates a ‘hob free’ shower, which in turn alleviates the issues with the older style of construction and makes for a cleaner and more user-friendly shower recess
Screeding a new shower base with fall to the waste and install a new waste grate
Re-tiling the base and walls of the shower
Carrying out a full Shower Dr Shower service to the entire shower recess
Installing taps, a shower rose and shower screen
The bathroom will be left clean and ready for use
